NLDC - Neighbourhood Learning in Deprived Communities

NLDC or Neighbourhood Learning in Deprived Communities aims to provide community based learning opportunities that widen participation from adults who live in disadvantaged neighbourhoods.
The CSV Media Clubhouse runs a range of non-accredited and accredited courses under the NLDC banner including:
CLAIT is a 6 week course, 2 hours per week.  The learners gain a basic knowledge of folder management and MS word and MS Excel, leading to taking the New CLAIT level 1, Unit 1 and Unit 2 qualification, awarded by OCR.
Basic IT is a 5 weeks course, 2 hrs per week, non-accredited training. Learners become familiar with using a computer, the Internet and emailing. At the end of this course Learners have working knowledge of the internet and use of internet in daily life and also they can send an email, reply to an email, save attachments, download attachments, save contacts in the address book, print emails and use Egov services.
CV Writing and interview skills workshop:  This is a non accredited course which we conduct in 2 sessions of 6 hours each. The participants go through different styles of CV writing, how to fill in applications properly, how to face the interview, how to answer some obvious questions and an awareness about basic work culture.
Web Design: Web Design is a 10 week course, 3 hours per week.  The learners develop a portfolio of work (including working web pages), guided by the tutor, using Dreamweaver software.   The portfolio gains them an OCR imedia unit qualification in Web Authoring.
Digital Graphics and Image Manipulation:  Digital Graphics is a 10 week course, 3 hours per week.  This is also accredited course from OCR iMedia units. The learners develop a portfolio of work (including their own photographs which they have digitally manipulated), guided by the tutor, using Photoshop software.   The portfolio gains them an OCR imedia unit qualification in Digital Graphics.
